Against the day

Against the day

“If it is not the world, it is what the world might be with a minor adjustment or two.” –Thomas Pynchon

I’ve just found out that Mr. Pynchon will be releasing a new novel in November 2006 – his first since income tax day, 1997. Against the day clocks in at 1120 pages and will surely provide the bulk of my winter reading.

I found Mason & Dixon (that 1997 book) to be one of the greatest I’ve read about the development and maturation of friendship (and one of the best, period) – and look forward to standing in line and ponying up the cash on November 21.
